How to label AI video ads in 2026

By Kliperio team · Updated 30 Oct 2026

Checked today

Label any ad that shows a realistic AI-made person or scene: TikTok wants its AI disclaimer turned on, Amazon wants a metadata tag on AI-made people, and since 2 Aug 2026 the EU AI Act asks you to say a deep fake is AI-made. Meta labels AI ad media itself and asks you to disclose only in social issue, election or political ads; YouTube asks you to tick a box when an upload shows a realistic scene that did not happen.

Platform by platform

The rules, with their sources

Read from each platform's own pages on the day shown. Rules change often; follow the link before a big launch.

This is a summary for sellers, not legal advice. For a specific campaign, ask a lawyer in your market.

By niche

One line for each kind of product

Beyond the label, advertising law asks that an ad does not mislead. These are the lines we keep to for our own ads.

What not to fake, by niche
NicheKeep to this
Skincare and beautyShow the product being used. Never show results it did not cause, such as clearer skin after one drop.
Food and drinkShow it as it really looks when served: same size, same colour, same portion.
SupplementsNo health claims beyond what the label and the law allow. A made-up person must never say it cured them.
PetsShow the product doing its job. No vet claims, no animal in distress.
Home gadgetsShow the real function at the real size. Do not show it doing what it cannot.
AppsShow real screens of your app, not invented features.
Every nicheAn AI person is not a customer. Do not let one say they bought, used or loved the product as if it were their own experience.

Our part

What Kliperio does, and what it does not do yet

  • Made-up people only, unless you have permission

Every person in the Kliperio avatar library is made up. Models that take a real person's photo ask you to confirm you have that person's permission.

  • Our samples carry a label

Every clip on these pages is marked as AI-generated, with the model and settings that made it.

  • No machine-readable mark yet

Kliperio does not yet write its own AI mark into the files you download. Do not count on a file carrying one: add Amazon's tag yourself, and turn on each platform's label.

  • The label is your switch

Kliperio does not post your ads, so it cannot tick TikTok's or YouTube's box for you. Do it when you upload.

Amazon

Adding Amazon's tag to a file

Only for pictures or videos that show a photorealistic AI-made person.

  1. 1

    Download the file

Save the finished picture or video from your Library.

  2. 2

    Add the keyword

In any editor that writes IPTC or XMP data, add contains-synthetic-performer to the subject keywords (XMP dc:subject). The free ExifTool does it in one line, shown below.

  3. 3

    Upload as usual

Amazon reads the tag when you add the file to a listing, A+ content, a store or an ad.

ExifTool: add the keyword to a picture or an MP4

exiftool -XMP-dc:Subject+="contains-synthetic-performer" my-ad.mp4

Questions, answered

Do I have to label AI UGC ads on TikTok?

Yes, when the ad's pictures, video or audio are made or heavily changed by AI. TikTok Ads Manager has an AI-generated content disclaimer for it, and TikTok's ad rules make it mandatory for such ads.

Does Meta require an AI label on normal product ads?

Meta itself asks it of you only in ads about social issues, elections or politics. It may add an "AI info" label when it detects AI-made media, but do not count on it: Kliperio files carry no AI mark yet. New York's law and the EU AI Act may still ask for a label in the ad.

What is the contains-synthetic-performer tag?

A keyword Amazon asks for in the XMP dc:subject field of pictures and videos that show photorealistic AI-made people. It has been mandatory since 6 Jun 2026; real people edited with AI do not need it.

What does the EU AI Act say about AI ads?

Article 50 asks whoever publishes a deep fake, meaning realistic AI-made people, places or events, to say it is AI-made, since 2 Aug 2026. AI tool makers must also mark outputs in a machine-readable way, for older tools from 2 Dec 2026.

Can an AI person say they use my product?

Not as their own experience. An AI person is not a customer, so presenting their words as a real review misleads buyers. Let them show the product and say what it does.

Does Kliperio label my videos for me?

Not yet in the file: Kliperio does not write its own machine-readable AI mark into downloads yet. Turn on each platform's label when you post, and add Amazon's tag where it applies.

Is this legal advice?

No. It is a dated summary of the platforms' and the EU's published rules for sellers. For a specific campaign, ask a lawyer in your market.
